Terms and conditions
Version 2026-09-30 · plain language, no small print. This page describes
what Sitewillow actually does with your data and your money.
The short version
Building and previewing are free. To put a site online you need a paid plan, paid yearly
or monthly. A monthly plan can be cancelled at any time. Your text, your photos and your domain name stay yours.
What Sitewillow is
Sitewillow is a website builder: you make the choices, we generate a website, host it and keep it
online. You can edit your own content or ask us about additional website help. Any additional paid work is agreed separately.
Your account
- You need to be 16 or older to open an account.
- You are responsible for what happens under your login. Turn on two-factor authentication if
you want an extra lock.
- One person or business per account. You may build several websites within your plan.
Paying
- Building and previewing costs nothing. The Free plan does not include publishing; a site goes
online only with a paid plan (Basic, Pro or Business).
- The prices of each plan are on the pricing page. You choose to pay
yearly, which is cheaper, or monthly.
Those prices include VAT.
- A yearly plan is paid for the whole year in advance and renews for another year unless you
cancel before the renewal date. The first year costs 40% less than twelve monthly payments and
includes one available, non-premium .com, .nl, .net or .org domain name per subscription for the first year, registered in your name. Basic covers up to two published websites; Pro covers up to three; Business covers up to ten. Basic and Pro each include one domain on a yearly plan, not one per website. After the first year the plan
renews at twelve times the monthly price. Domain renewal is charged separately at its quoted renewal price; the first-year offer does not include later renewals. Monthly plans do not include a free domain. A monthly plan is paid every month in advance. Both Basic and Pro support connecting your own domain.
- Your subscription starts when you complete checkout, even if you have not published yet. Taking a site offline does not stop subscription charges. Contact us to change your plan; we confirm the price and timing before making the change.
- If you created an account and published a site during the Early Access Beta, you keep three free
calendar months of Sitewillow access from the day regular pricing began. Read the early access offer.
- If your subscription becomes overdue, your account shows a payment warning and links to the billing portal. Update your payment details there. Sites remain available during payment recovery; they go offline if the subscription becomes unpaid or ends.
Stopping
- Cancel a monthly or yearly subscription in Account → Billing → billing portal. Sign in with the email address used for payment, select the subscription, choose Cancel subscription and confirm. You can cancel before renewal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid month or year. There is no cancellation fee. Contact us if you cannot access the portal.
- All websites covered by that subscription go offline at the end of the period you paid for. Sites covered by another active subscription are unaffected.
- Cancelling a subscription does not delete your account or saved work. You can keep building for free and publish again with a new paid plan. To delete your account and content, email us. We confirm the request and explain any records we must retain.
- Ask us for a copy of your content and you get it — page text, photos and the messages your
visitors sent.
Your domain name stays yours
A domain name you bring or we register for you belongs to you, not to us. If you leave, we hand
over what is needed to move it to another provider and we will not hold it hostage. We do not
charge for cooperating with a transfer.
Domain registrations are separate from website subscriptions. Cancelling your website plan does not cancel or refund a domain registration. From 30 days before a domain expires we renew it for one year at its renewal price: with your saved card if you have one, otherwise we email you a link to pay. Turn off auto-renew for a domain and we only remind you; if nobody renews it, the domain expires.
Concretely, this is how leaving with your domain works:
- A domain you bring remains at your registrar. A domain purchased through Sitewillow is registered through Namecheap using the registrant details you supply. Provide accurate details and complete any required ownership verification.
- Ask us and you get, within five working days: the DNS records that currently point at
Sitewillow, and written confirmation that we release the name.
- You change those records at your provider to your new provider. That takes effect without
any permission or action from us.
- We keep your website reachable on its Sitewillow address until the end of the paid subscription period, unless you take it offline yourself.
- Did we register or renew a domain on your behalf? Then we start the transfer to the
registrar of your choice when you ask, subject to the registrar's verification and transfer-lock rules. We do not charge a transfer assistance fee; the new registrar may charge its own fees.
Your content
Everything you put on your site stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it and
make backups of it — that is what hosting is. You are responsible for having the right to use
the text and photos you upload, including stock photos from elsewhere.
What may not go on a Sitewillow site: anything illegal, material that infringes someone else's
rights, malware, or content that harasses or endangers people. If that shows up we contact you
first, unless the situation is serious enough that we have to act immediately.
What we promise, and what we do not
- We aim to keep your site online at all times, but we do not promise a fixed uptime figure.
Maintenance is done at quiet hours where we can.
- We make backups, and version history keeps up to 50 earlier versions of your site. That is a
safety net, not a guarantee against every kind of loss.
- Sitewillow builds websites; it does not promise visitors, rankings or sales.
- The privacy, terms and cookie templates we generate for your website are a plain
starting point, not legal advice.
If something goes wrong
If we cause damage, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the
problem. That limit does not apply if we caused the damage deliberately or through gross
negligence. Tell us quickly, so we can fix it while fixing is still possible.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms — for a new feature, or because the law changes. You will be told by
email at least 30 days in advance. Do not agree? Then cancel before the change takes effect;
that costs nothing. Every version has a number and a date, and we record which version you
agreed to when you signed up.
Withdrawing within 14 days
If you buy as a consumer, you can withdraw from a plan or a domain purchase within 14 days after buying it,
without giving a reason. Use Withdraw from contract here (also at the bottom of every page).
You confirm on the next screen and get a confirmation by email straight away. We refund you within 14 days,
to the same card or account you paid with.
- Plans. When you pay, you ask us to start right away. If you then withdraw within 14 days, we refund
what you paid minus the days your plan was active. If your yearly plan included a domain that we already
registered, we also keep the price of that domain; the domain stays yours for its first year.
- Domain names, transfers and renewals. When you pay, you ask us to register, transfer or renew the
domain right away and you agree that you can no longer withdraw once that is done, because a registered
domain can’t be given back. Until then, you can still withdraw.
Withdrawing is separate from cancelling: cancelling your subscription only stops future renewals.
We do not treat merely using the builder as a waiver of your rights, and nothing here limits your statutory rights.
Which law applies
Dutch law applies to these terms. If we cannot solve a disagreement together, the Dutch courts
can decide. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer.
