Tinted Paints

Bring us a colour on anything and we will mix it while you wait

A shard of a mug, a sock, a leaf, a page out of a magazine. We scan it, mix a sample pot in about eight minutes and you paint a square at home before you commit to a single litre.

A corner of a room painted in vertical stripes of coral, white, pale yellow and orange.

One machine, a wall of pots and two people who will not rush you

We are Oona and Kit. We keep the formula for every colour we mix under your postcode, so when the hallway gets scuffed in four years you can ring and ask for "the green from the stairs" and we will know which green you mean.

What we mix

Everything below is water-based and low-odour. We do not sell solvent paint, and we will tell you where to get it if you really need it.

  • Wood and metal, satin£24 / 1 L
  • Floors, tough as boots£46 / 2.5 L
  • Sample pot, any colour£4.50
How much do I need?
Open paint pots in red, orange, purple and blue on a paint-spattered dust sheet.
A living room wall painted in large triangles of orange, grey, yellow and pale blue behind two armchairs.

Kind words

"I brought in a tangerine peel. They did not laugh, they just asked if I wanted it warmer."

We painted the whole back wall in triangles off one sample pot and a roll of tape. Kit drew the pattern on a napkin at the counter.

Before you buy paint

Most people buy twice what they need and still run out of the one colour that matters. Three things to do first, and we will do the sums with you at the counter.

A white wall with painted bands of green, dark green and coral pink running down into a corner.

Paint a square first

Colour on a chart is a lie told under shop lights. Paint a square at least as big as a pillowcase and look at it in the morning and after dark.

A corner where a red wall meets bands of black, olive and yellow.

Measure the walls

Width times height for every wall, add them up, take off the doors and windows. Bring the number, not a photograph of the room.

1 litre covers about 10 m², twice

A sunlit corridor with walls painted yellow, navy and white and a low white wall throwing shadows.

What we will not mix

Paint for anything that goes in a child's mouth, anything for a boat below the water line and anything for outside that has to last longer than five winters. We will say why.

The corner of a building painted in wide stripes of red, pale blue and maroon.
