Stalls
Steam rising from a bowl of noodles being lifted over a street stall. A cook frying snacks at a crowded stall full of trays of food. Rows of meat skewers grilling over glowing charcoal.
A young cook turning skewers on a smoky grill at night. Hands holding a paper tray of loaded fries with herbs and lime. Metal bowls of chopped tomato, onion, herbs and yellow noodles on a stall counter. A burger and a filled bun wrapped in paper on a table in warm light.
Several hands reaching for sandwiches, salad and doughnuts on a dark table. A woman in a patterned dress serving from a food cart stacked with baguettes. Bowls of pasta and ramen with a bottle of chilli sauce on a wooden table.
A ladle pouring soup into a small plastic cup at a busy stall. A cart piled with puffed rice, lentils, peanuts, tomatoes and onions. A man in a red t-shirt at a small street food cart with traffic behind. Shaded outdoor tables and bright plastic stools under a canopy of trees.

Twenty-two stalls on the roof of a car park, every Friday until the food runs out

No stage, no wristbands, no entry fee. Every cook on the roof started at a folding table, and three of them now have restaurants downstairs on Mill Street. Level 6, the lift or the stairs.

Before you come

Card or cash

Every stall takes cards. Two still like cash for anything under £3, and there is no machine on the roof.

"Until the food runs out"

Usually about nine. The noodles go first, by half seven. Come early for them or late for the doughnut deal.

Bring a box

Any container of your own gets £1 off at every stall. We sell steel ones by the lift for £4.

Lift, dogs, children

The lift goes to level 6 and holds a buggy. Dogs on short leads. Under-twelves with an adult after eight.
