A grooming room with one table, one bath and no cages

One dog at a time, washed, dried, trimmed and handed back when it is done — usually within two hours, never left sitting in a crate waiting for you to finish work.

A small white poodle having the fur around its face trimmed with scissors. A fluffy ginger dog wrapped in a pink towel being brushed after a bath. A grinning French bulldog standing in a white bath with a hand on its back.

Before the appointment

Walk them first

A dog that has been to the toilet and had a sniff stands still on the table. One that has not, does not.

The matting rule

If the coat is matted to the skin we clip it short. Brushing it out hurts, and we will not do that to a dog to save a haircut. We will ring you before we start.

Nervous dogs

Book the first slot of the day, when it is quiet. We do a free ten-minute visit first — a biscuit, a sniff of the table, and home.

Vaccinations

Up to date, and the card with you the first time.

Why only one dog at a time

Most salons take six dogs at nine in the morning and hand them back at five. The dogs spend most of that day in a cage, listening to dryers. We take one, finish it, ring you, and start the next.

It means fewer dogs a day and a higher price than the chain on the ring road. It also means no dog here has ever waited in a cage.
