Longwave PassesBefore you comeGetting there

Two nights on the shingle

Longwave · Longwave · Longwave · Longwave ·

14 and 15 November. Four hundred people, one stage in a boat shed and one outside under a tarpaulin, on a beach that is dark by half past four. Bring the coat you would wear to walk a dog in February, not the one you would wear to a festival.

A crowd lit from the stage, arms up, in the dark.

The place

A working boat yard, eleven miles from the nearest station and two from the nearest pub. The shed holds three hundred; the tarpaulin holds the rest and leaks in one corner that we have marked.

There is no parking on site. The shuttle runs from the station every twenty minutes from two in the afternoon until one in the morning, and it is included in every pass on this page.

A packed room seen from the back, lit in one colour.
Stage lights cutting across a dark hall.

Before you come

Weather
It is a beach in November. The outside stage runs in rain and stops in wind above force seven; if that happens the programme moves into the shed and the day gets shorter, and there is no refund for weather.
Getting there
Train to the town, then the shuttle. There is no parking, no drop-off inside the gate and no taxi rank after midnight — the shuttle is genuinely the only way back.
Refunds
Full refund up to six weeks before. After that you can pass the ticket to somebody else yourself; tell us the name and we will change it once, free.
Age
Sixteen and over inside the shed, all ages under the tarpaulin until nine. Bring something with your date of birth on it even if you think you look older.
Accessibility
The shed floor is concrete and level; the ground between the two stages is loose shingle and hard going. Phone us and we will walk you through it honestly before you buy.
What is not included
Food, drink and anywhere to sleep. The town has two hotels and both sell out by September, which is the single most useful sentence on this page.
