Docket

Docket is invoicing for people who work out of a van. You photograph the job sheet on the driveway, it writes the invoice, and the customer pays from a link before you have reversed out.

What it does

  • Reads a handwritten job sheet
  • Writes the invoice in your words
  • Sends a payment link by text
  • Chases it on day seven, politely
An old handwritten work order form with prices and a customer's name on a wooden table.

Who uses it

  • Plumbers and heating engineers
  • Electricians
  • Locksmiths and glaziers
  • Anyone who writes on a clipboard

What it replaces

The Sunday evening with a shoebox of receipts.

Every invoice, every payment and every part you bought on the way is in one list, ready to hand to your accountant as it is.

A calculator on a pile of receipts and a notebook on a dark wooden desk.

Why it is like this

I built Docket after watching my brother, a heating engineer, lose £3,400 in a year to invoices he meant to send.

Not bad customers — forgotten paperwork. The job was done, the boiler was warm, and the invoice lived on the back of an envelope in the van door. Docket is the smallest thing that fixes that: it is quick enough to use before the engine is on, and it never asks you to learn accounting.

It has one price, it will never have tiers, and there is nobody who will ring you to "upgrade".
