Desk Before you take one

Eleven desks and one meeting room above a hardware shop, with a line that does not drop and a door that locks

What a desk costs
A long room with desks along the windows.

What you get

A desk with a laptop and a cup.

A desk that is yours

Not a hot desk. The same one, with your things on it overnight, and a drawer with a key that we do not have a copy of.

Two people talking across a table.

The room, four hours a month

Seats six, has a door that shuts properly, and is booked on a paper sheet on the wall. Extra hours are eight pounds.

Someone working quietly in a corner.

Quiet, mostly

Calls are taken on the landing or in the room. That is the one rule that people actually stay for, and it is enforced by everybody, not by us.

What it costs

A day£18

Ten days, used any time£150

Two days a week, monthly£110

Full time, monthly£220

Meeting room, per hour£8

Registered address£12 a month

Lockerincluded

Coffeeincluded, and it is fine

One month's notice either way. No deposit, no joining fee, and no contract longer than a page.

Hands at a keyboard in daylight.
A desk from above with a notebook and a camera.

Before you take a desk

Come for a day first
Eighteen pounds, no commitment, and we will not follow it up with an email. If it suits you, you will come back.
The stairs
Twenty-two of them, no lift. The hardware shop below has a yard entrance that is level, and we will meet deliveries there.
Calls and meetings
Landing or room. A video call at a desk with one earphone in is the thing that empties a room like this, and it is why ours is full.
Hours
Seven until eight on weekdays, and a code for the door outside those hours if you have been here three months.
The line
Leased, not broadband, and it has been down twice in four years. Both times we refunded the day without being asked.
Dogs
One at a time, agreed with the room beforehand. There is a list and it is short.
