Covered

Insurance for small shops, explained by two people who read the small print so you don't have to.

A shopkeeper working in a long, narrow shop lined floor to ceiling with jars of spices.

Most small businesses find out what their policy covers on the worst morning of the year: a burst pipe, a break-in, a customer who slips. That is too late to learn that "stock" did not include the freezer.

We are Priya and Owen. Between us, twenty years at insurers, which is how we know where the exclusions hide. We compare the whole market for you and then go through the winning policy, line by line, at your counter.

We only work with businesses of up to fifteen people. When you claim, you ring us, not a number in another country, and we stay on it until it is paid.

What we cover (and what we don't)

Two café workers in aprons standing behind their counter.
Cafés and food shops: stock, fridges, the coffee machine, and the week you are closed after a fire.
A gloved hand cutting a tray bake into squares on a wooden board.
Makers and workshops: tools, materials, and the customer who says your product broke their tooth.

Don't buy the cheapest policy. Buy the one that pays.

Two quotes can be £40 apart and cover completely different things. We put them side by side on one page: what each pays for, what it does not, and how much you pay yourself before it starts. Then you choose.

Four policies, properly explained

Public liability

If a customer is hurt or their things damaged on your premises.

Stock and contents

Everything you sell and use, at what it costs to replace.

Business interruption

Your income while you are closed after something goes wrong.

Employers' liability

Required by law the day you take on anyone, even part-time.

Before you renew

Ask what is excluded

Not what is covered — everyone tells you that. Ask for the exclusions in writing, and read them before the cover starts.

Check the stock figure

Your busiest month, not your average. If you are underinsured, most policies pay less on every claim, not just the big one.

What we charge

We are paid a commission by the insurer you choose, and we tell you exactly how much, in pounds, before you sign.

No fee to compare · commission shown up front
