Bite

A dentist for people who have not been to the dentist in years

If the last time was bad, you are exactly who we built this practice for. The first appointment is an hour long, and nothing happens in it unless you say so.

What the first visit is like
A dentist in a white shirt pointing at a screen while a seated patient looks on in a bright surgery.
A light, tidy dental surgery with a chair, cupboards, a plant and a window with blinds.

Our approach

Slow on purpose

Every appointment is booked at twice the usual length. If you need to sit up, stop or go home, there is time for that, and nobody sighs.

Nothing is a surprise

Before any tool goes near your mouth we tell you what it is, what it will feel like and how long it takes. You can hold it first if you want.

Two of us, always

Dr Amara Voss and Ines, who has held the hand of more nervous people than anyone in the city.

What we do

A dentist's mirror and scaler held gently against a patient's teeth.

Check-ups and cleaning

A look, a clean, and a plain-English account of what we saw.

£65

A dentist studying dental x-rays pinned to a lit viewing box.

Fillings and repairs

Numbing gel first, then the injection, then a ten-minute wait so it has really worked.

from £90

A model of teeth showing an implant beside natural roots.

Bigger work

Crowns, root canals and implants, planned over several short visits instead of one long one.

What patients say

"Eleven years without going. I cried in the car park, and then they came out to the car park."

Patient, first visit, March

"They showed me every tool before they used it. I didn't know you were allowed to ask."

Patient, two fillings, June

Two dentists in masks and gowns working calmly on a reclining patient.

Before your first visit

1

We talk first

Twenty minutes in a normal room with normal chairs. What happened last time, what you are worried about, what you would like to happen today — which can be nothing.

2

The hand signal

Raise your left hand and everything stops, mid-sentence, mid-anything. We practise it once before we start so you know it works.

3

A look, if you want

Mirror only, no probes, no x-rays unless you agree. You leave with a written plan and no pressure to book the next step.

Bring a list of any medicines you take. Headphones welcome.

Get in touch

Ring and ask for Ines. Tell her it has been a while. She will not ask how long.

Questions

Can I bring someone?

Do you offer sedation?

Gentle oral sedation for longer work, arranged a week ahead, with someone to take you home.

What does it cost?

What if I cancel?

No fee, ever. We would rather you came back when you are ready.

Bite is a fictional example. The practice, Dr Voss and Ines, the patients and the prices do not exist, and nothing on this page is dental or medical advice. Photographs are stock images and were not taken at this practice.
