Bench

Bench

& Bar

Rings made to order at one bench, in the order the work came in. Eleven weeks from the first drawing, and I will tell you at the start if that does not suit you.

A fine chain lying against a collar.
Dark ore, close up, filling the frame.
A hand holding a small object up to the light.
Small tools and objects laid out on a dark surface.

Everything here was made twice: once in silver to try on, and once properly

A flat lay of working things on a dark table.
A rock face in black and white.
Loose stones and grit, close up.
Dark polished stones on a pale ground.

How a commission runs
Stones on a worn surface, lit from one side.

I would rather make you a plain band you wear every day than a clever one you take off to do the washing up

Said at the start of most first meetings

Before you commission

How long
Eleven weeks from the first drawing, and longer between October and Christmas. If you need it sooner I will say no rather than rush it.
The trial ring
Made in silver, posted to you, worn for a week. Almost everybody changes something after wearing it, which is the entire point of the exercise.
Paying
A third to start, a third when the gold is bought, the rest on collection. Bank transfer; the middle payment is the one that cannot wait.
Your own gold
Yes, and it is usually cheaper. Old rings are melted here, in front of you if you want, and you should know that anything engraved inside will be lost.
Stones
I do not sell them. I will set what you bring and I will point you at two people who do sell them and will not mind you asking questions.
If it is wrong
Bring it back within a year and it is remade, once, free. After that it is repairs at cost for as long as I have the bench.
